On a sunny but cold Wednesday afternoon, the St. Bernard’s girls team made their way over to Rossa GAC to play in the CNMB league semi final against St Anne’s. The girls dominated early on with Eliza, Tara, Aoife and Eloise coming to the fore. Despite their best efforts, and with some controversial decisions from the referee, resolute defending from St. Anne’s meant the St. Bernard’s forwards Annie and Eva were kept at bay but both girls dug in and continued to work hard for their team. Despite the valiant effort of Isla, Grace and Farrah at the back, they were unable to contain the lively St. Anne’s forwards. The girls reset at half time and with a few positional changes were more than a match for their West Belfast counterparts. Niamh, Ruby and Ava- Rose were more involved in the 2nd half but again the St. Anne’s rearguard kept our girls at bay. The girls were an absolute credit to themselves for the hard work they put in despite coming up against a strong St. Anne’s team.
